Request : Please do not post each and every question from webcasts and chats... as seperate thread in the forums?

this is making hard for us to find out the questions from other members and track which issues we have been following for addressing. Also sometines all questions are with same title.  I made the same request last time and Eric also pointed out the same.

Sugession
: Please post all questions from one session under one thread with the thread name same as the title of the webcast/chat session

Hi Joseph -- Thank you for the feedback.  Unfortunately, if we post all of the questions from a webcast under one thread, they will not be searchable and members will not be able to determine what questions are asked from the thread title.

I will take this suggestion to our Management Team and see if we can come up with a workaround for this. Thanks to both you and Eric for all of your work in the forums!

What about requiring/ requesting the first few characters as some unique identifier in these posts?  The questions are obviously entered by hand into the forums, but could you ask that the folks transcribing them lead off with "WC_Q&A" for something like a WebChat Question & Answer thread?  They could even include the date... 20120118_WC_Q&A as another example.

Simply differentiating them would be the biggest help.

Going a step further, if the backend of the forum supports it you could always:
1. Add a column/ utilize a field that would default to a "Type" classification for the post.
2. Default posting "Type" for 99.9% of all posts are "User Questions"
3.  Non-Admins (the rest of the community ourselves included) would have our questions posted as this type
4.  Admins (yourslef, perhaps Amber, or others who post the session questions) could select a different option for the "Type" such as "WebCast Q&A"

Assuming that the above would work, you then display the type column on the rendered page.  This gives us a way to know what to pay attention to and what we might not be interested in...

You can go further with implimenting "filters" on the page which shows only posts of a specific type as well.

Were you to impliment this change in the system it opens up doors for future functionality as well.

If you choose not to, I'd like it if folks would at least put in the WC_Q&A or something similar in the subject of the thread post...

Hi Erik -- I like your idea of adding another column to the forums to designate it as a webcast Q&A. I'd like to keep the title of the forum thread as clear as possible, but adding another column would allow people who answer a lot of forum threads (like you and Joseph) to tell which threads are from webcasts and which are from users.

I like the idea to add filters too.  I'll take both suggestions back to our technical team and see what we can and cannot do, and I will report back. Thank you for the suggestions!

Here's what we came up with: When we post questions from a Webcast, we'll post them from an account called "Webcast Discussions". That way, when you look at the thread name, you'll see "Started by: Webcast Discussion" and you know you can ignore that post because it will be answered by one of our webcast speakers. Does that sound okay?

Thanks again for your input!
